Wind Mitigation & Retrofit
A wind mitigation inspection, is a specific kind of home inspection common in the coastal areas of the Southeastern United States. The purpose of this inspection is to determine the appropriateness of a given structure’s construction in the event of strong winds, storms, and hurricanes. A retrofit is adding or modifying a component, accessory or system after it has been manufactured. Common accessories that we ensure are in place are wind clips which fasten the truss to the wall frame. Sometimes a retrofit is needed, especially for older homes, to meet code and pass inspection. For some homeowners, a Wind Mitigation inspection can be performed and provided to your insurance agency for a discount. Call your insurance agency to find out more.
